Sherry Hu, 15, started studying guzheng at 8. She has been awarded with “Houston Young Artist” for years 2009-2016, and was invited to play guzheng on The Front Row Live Broadcast for KUHA FM91.7 Houston Public Radio (2009, 2011-12). Her performance was aired on Houston PBS/Channel 8 (2012). Recently, she won the Judge’s Distinction Award, Best Performance Award and First Place in the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition Fall 2014, and was thus invited to perform at Carnegie Hall. Aside from playing the guzheng, she is an award winning pianist who was selected as a member of Texas All-State orchestra (2014), and had her Carnegie Hall debut after winning the Sonatina and Sonata International Youth Piano Competition (2014). She took first prizes in the HMTA piano competition (2010-12), Sherman Clay Youth piano competition (2011), and Fort Bend Piano Festival (2013). She is also an award winning painter and enjoys dance in her spare time.
