Abby Hu, the lead performer and the First Place winner of American Protégé International Competition 2016, is 16 years old and a junior at Westwood High School. From the age of 6, she started to demonstrate an aptitude for music and was drawn to Guzheng as her favorite instrument. She passed the highest level of Guzheng certification in China. After moving to Austin, she began studying with Master Shao and greatly improved her understanding and skills. Besides her studies, playing Guzheng, and volunteering in the community, she enjoys dancing and painting.
